Happy Monday!

How was your weekend my dear readers? 

Mine was great, lazy and comfy. Due to the fall weather, we did not felt guilty on Saturday to stay inside and watch movies and episodes of series all day. Well, not completely true: we made a trip to the supermarket (we really had to, because stores here are not open on Sundays..). 

Sunday afternoon, my sweet bf had to go to work... :-( So I went out to have dinner with a friend. But not before we fixed some things in our apartment. It really looks more like a home every day.  

Can't believe it's already Monday! I feel so happy, because: 

• The sun is shining 
• I will go to a birthday party tonight
• My parents come to visit in four days!! I really miss them!
• Christmas markets have arrived in Berlin
• I still can't believe that I finally live here, actually I enjoy every day

Making Pesto

This is my first step-by-step recipe post, yeeeeyy! I love home-made pesto, it's so easy to make and so much tastier than the pesto you will find in the supermarket.

Marlon and I will probably go and visit both the Food Market and the Flea Market in the neighbourhood Friedrichshain. We also hope to catch some sun, as after this weekend, it will only get greyer and colder here in Berlin.. 

I Have a Thing for Breakfast

I have it every morning, as I can not function well without anything in my tummy. 

Especially during the weekend, I take some extra time to make a special (sometimes greasy) and yummy breakfast. 

During weekdays, I like to keep things simple and healthy with yoghurt and muesli (except for this morning, I cheated with an egg and bacon omelette....).

Pflaumenkuchen

Just a little post about the pflaumenkuchen I made this weekend, it's a German pie with prunes.

The difference between 'regular' pies and pflaumenkuchen is the yeast that is added to the dough, I think it gives the pie more bite and a bit of a bread-like feeling.

Have a happy weekend everyone!! What are your plans?

Our weekend started well yesterday with a visit to the Dr. (Ping) Pong Bar. This evening we will go to a party in an art gallery and Sunday we will try to find a lamp at a flea market.

This is our weekend tune, listen to it. Why?
One: It's an amazing and beautiful song. Two: It will be stuck in your head forever... ;-)

Weekend

My dear friends, how was your weekend? Mine was quite relaxing and nice!

On Saturday I stayed in,  together with my cookbooks and my organic groceries and  didn't feel guilty at all, because it rained the entire day.

I took some time to prepare socca, (see previous post) and it turned out great and yummy! Thanks Sarah B.! I added some extra goat cheese, lime juice and coriander.

Sunday was lovely and sunny, really enjoyed the festival and atmosphere... and a delicious piece of lemon cake (oooppss, sometimes it's hard to stick to healthy food if you are in one of the coziest and best lunchrooms in The Hague...).

Saturday has arrived, I'm so happy! It has been a stressful time at the office. 

Lately, I'm interested in a different style of eating, more natural, fresh, and organic. I got infected by Sarah from the blog My New Roots, love her recipes and beautiful photos.  

I think I will try it for a week, starting today, to see how it will affect me. Another inspiration is the book 'You are what you eat' by Gillian McKeith, this book contains recipes to eat healthy for a week. 

So, I'm off to the (organic) supermarket to buy brown rice, quinoa and other types of food I've never had... So excited!

On Sunday we have an outdoor music festival here in The Hague, called 'Parkpop', looking forward to relaxing in the grass (if it stops raining, that is..).

Finally the weekend has arrived!

Will pick up Marlon from the station in a few minutes. Really missed the guy..

Tomorrow I will have a bachelor party with my girlfriends, one of them is getting married in July, really looking forward to tha purty and the wedding!

Thinking about visiting my parents on Sunday for fathers day.

Long Distance Love

Just spent an amazing weekend with Marlon, here in The Hague. The positive side of having a long distance relationship, is how we enjoy every minute we have together.

These weekends feels like little vacations, we take long bike rides, go out for breakfast and enjoy the city by foot while holding hands.

I do need to say it's getting more difficult to say good bye to him... I miss this cutie more everyday.
Also, it is still uncertain if Marlon can stay in Berlin after June, so either he will come back, or I will move to Berlin... aaah, so exciting! I hope he can stay there, so we can start our adventure in Berlin.

Weekend

The weekend is finally here! These last couple of weeks were quite hectic, I bumped in to Mr. Flu, went to Berlin (which was amazing btw!!) and had some stressful times at work.

Now, the only thing I want to do is relax in the sun. Have great weekend sweets!!

Sunny Berlin

This weekend was amazing and had it all, it had some partying, yummy dinners and relaxing in my home town The Hague.

The weekend before this one, I went to Berlin, (of course!) to visit my love and enjoy the city. Again I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of Berlin, in food, culture and fashion.
Every district is like a town on its own.

Mauerpark is one of the places you definitely need to visit when you're there on a Sunday. There is an amazing flea market and hundreds of people (or thousands?) gather to meet up and enjoy karaoke and do some barbecuing.

It all feels so spontaneous, things like the karaoke, would never happen here in The Netherlands, as before having a party like this, the organizers would have to meet up to numerous strict regulations. Love this city!    

Scheveningen

Tomorrow we will have a nice hot temperature here in The Netherlands (finally!)

Before jumping on a plane to Berlin, I will cycle to Scheveningen and enjoy the beach. Scheveningen is part of The Hague, the city where I live. I will go a bit early, as all the Dutchies will go to the beach tomorrow as well, haha..  I feel so lucky to be living this close to the sea!!

What I like about our country is the variety of landscape, we have everything, except for mountains...

Happy Monday

This weekend went by so fast. My parents came to visit yesterday, it was so good to see them again, we had a great time! Saturday, I went for a run, through the rain, it felt great!
Message to self; go for a  run more often!

When I saw this image, it made me smile and think of my own bad habit to come late so now and then....

Have a lovely weekend

In a few hours I will pick up Marlon from the trainstation. Can't wait!!
Again, this will be a relaxing weekend. This time I won't be relaxing by myself, but together with my cutie.

We will start off with some good coffee and banana cheesecake at "De Overkant". After this, nothing planned. That's how we like it, not too much planning and thinking ahead, just enjoy every minute and not fixating on a schedule. :-)

Weekend

Yeah its weekend again! The perfect moment to spend with my good old self.

This weekend I will take time to drink my coffee while reading my newspaper from beginning to end. 

I will go out for a jog, sort out my closet,  try out my new oven, watch a movie, and paint my nails.

My Weekend

How was your weekend? Mine was a bit different than intended. Last Friday, it took me 4 hours more than normal to travel to my friend's house. It seemed that the whole of the Netherlands was up side down, because of some snow.. But when I finally arrived, I had lots of fun and enjoyed my time with the girls.

Yesterday, I prepared a dish from Jamie Olivers book "Jamie's America"
Tortillas with avocado, red peppers, sour cream and 2 cheeses. It was OH so delicious! Forgot to take a picture... finished it too fast..

   

Have a Wonderful Weekend

Tonight I will have a Sinterklaas (Dutch celebration) / Christmas party together with my girlfriends.
We all bought small gifts where we need to compete for during a fun game. Afterwards, we will jump into our pajamas and watch some movies. Really looking forward to some time with my girls!

The rest of the weekend, Marlon and I will  stay in, enjoy our time together while checking out our snowy white view.

My Week

A small impression of my week. Marlon and me enjoyed a cold but romantic weekend in Berlin. I went out to dinner with my mom and had some great Vietnamese food at Little V.

We also visited my aunt who is an amazing cook. She prepared a Turkish dish from one of the finest cookbooks of this moment Turquoise.
